Charter Club Accreditation

ClubSport Stirling has developed the Charter Club scheme as a means of identifying clubs which operate in a structured way, as well as providing a suitable 'baseline' from which they can develop.

The Charter Club has been developed by clubs for clubs. It is for this reason that we hope the pack is club friendly and easy to complete. If your club is in need of assistance do not hesitate in contacting the office.

This Information Pack

This Information pack is in two sections. Section 1 will give you details of the 'Charter Club' identifying:

The benefits your club can gain from becoming a 'Charter Club'.

The procedures for becoming a recognised club.

Guidance notes which will assist you in completing the pack.

Section 2 contains:

Information forms, which are required to be completed and returned to the ClubSport Stirling office.

A SCRO (Scottish Criminal Record Office) form which can be duplicated as necessary

A Checklist to remind you of what information is required.

SECTION 1

The Charter Club

The Aim of the Charter Club is to: 'Encourage the establishment and operation of structured, safe sports clubs, with the potential to develop and expand accordingly.'

The scheme forms part of the work being undertaken by ClubSport Stirling's Club Development Working Group. They are proposing to further encourage the development of local clubs.

This pack, once completed to the satisfaction of the Club Development Working Group will grant the Charter Club status.

The Benefits

What are the benefits your club will get from becoming a 'Charter Club'?

We are hoping that the main incentive to becoming a Charter Club is that your club wishes to be recognised as a structured club. This will reassure your members and yourself that you are operating in an appropriate manner.

Other than the reassurance, you will gain the following benefits:

  • Promoted by ClubSport Stirling in their online Sports Directory.

  • Recognition in the Stirling Observer's 'Citizen Guide.'

  • Receive profile in the press.

  • Recognition by Stirling Council.

  • Receive direct club development advice and assistance.

  • Receive examples of 'Good Practice' in the field of Club Development e.g. Sample policies for Child Protection and Code of Conduct.

  • Receive three free SCRO checks per year.

  • Approval to use Charter Club logo.

The Process

Stage 1

Club returns completed forms within this pack ensuring that all evidence is enclosed. The Checklist at the back of this pack will assist in what information is required to be submitted.

Stage 2

Club receives acknowledgement of submission and date of the next Club Development Working Group meeting.

Stage 3

Club Development Working Group will consider your submission and award Charter Club status accordingly.

If successful your club will be issued their Charter Club Folder, containing your submitted documentation and the Charter Club logo.

Should the club be unsuccessful in their initial submission, the Working Group will advise and assist the club, towards achieving Charter Club status.

Stage 4

The Charter Club folder will be kept and maintained by your club and will be reviewed by ClubSport Stirling biannually.
